Description: Themes of the Mini-Conference

The Miyazaki Mini-Conference is devoted to exploring themes such as collaboration, understanding of self and others, and international and intercultural awareness in language education. Please join us and share your ideas about learning together!

Morning workshop: Creating Classroom Cultures of Intensive Collaboration, with Tim Murphey (Dokkyo University) and Chitose Asaoka (Dokkyo University)

Afternoon presentations: International Understanding Practices in Miyazaki, UNICEF Miyazaki Chapter; Finding and Using the Humanity in Dialogues, Mike Guest (Miyazaki University); Taking an Overview of Teaching English in Elementary School, Park Eungyong (Miyazaki City Assistant English Teacher) and Mutsuko Kanemaru (Miyazaki Minato Elementary School); Raising Self-awareness and Promoting Understanding of Others through Cooperative Learning, Morito Shingo (Hyuga Gakuin High School); & Autonomy: The Endless Journey, Steve Davies (Miyazaki International College).

Posters: Learning together through difference: Developing skills for English academic literacy, Mike Nix (Chuo University); Integrating Language and Content Goals through Cross-cultural Electronic Exchange, Debra Occhi (Miyazaki International College) and Russell Fauss (Miyazaki International College).

Conference Fee (requested donation): Regular: 1000 yen; Student: 500 yen

A collection of reality test papers related to the mini-conference by both presenters and participants is under consideration for publication. Further details will be available at the conference.
