Teacher-created Materials

Prof. Jane Nakagawa

In this session, the facilitator will present and discuss with participants materials created for a variety of courses including required and elective EFL courses, and undergraduate courses in EFL methodology.

The process including pros and cons of creating one's own materials to fit specific student groups will be a focus of this session.

The session leader has lived in Japan since 1989. Currently she is an associate professor at Aichi University of Education where she teaches English, TESOL methods, a course called gender and society, and intercultural studies.

Incorporating Intercultural Learning into EFL Classes: Practical Activities Workshop

Description: The presenter will share some short intercultural learning activities that can be adapted and applied to various EFL teaching settings. Based in current intercultural theory and methods, each activity has the English second language learner in mind, blending techniques and ideas in a experimental and creative way.  This workshop-style presentation promises to deliver some unique ideas for your classroom regardless of age or ability.

About the Presenter - Jon Dujmovich is the Managing Director of Imagination Ink Creative Education & Entertainment Services. He has served as an intercultural trainer for Matsushita, National/Panasonic, Yamaha Music, Alps Engineering, and several local education boards, as well as having over 10 years experience as an EFL instructor in Japan.
