Coordinator's Message (Spring 2010)
Eric Skier

Hello everyone,

We are now over three months into 2010, and I am happy to report that this year will be even more exciting for the LLL SIG. In addition to our participation in the PanSIG Conference in May and the JALT National Conference in November, we will also have an LLL SIG-themed special issue of JALT's The Language Teacher coming out this autumn. This issue will be a special milestone for our group, and it would not have been possible without the tireless dedication and hard work of newsletter editor Julia Harper. Many thanks, indeed!

I am also happy to inform you that Tadashi Ishida-sensei has been very involved with a new project very much related to our SIG. He has started a nonprofit organization that will be run largely by older adults, and it is truly an interesting project and a worthy cause.

I also invite you to read about the LLL SIG program at the upcoming Pan-SIG Conference to be held at Osaka Gakuin University May 22 and 23. If you have a chance to attend, I would highly recommend it! With various SIGs participating, there will surely be something of interest for all attendees!

And one closing thought. Don't forget that your participation is vital to advancing the mission of the LLL SIG. I would encourage you to submit articles for publication in the Newsletter and to share with other teachers your teaching innovations and strategies. By learning from each other, we will keep the LLL SIG fresh and alive.

Take care and enjoy spring,

Eric
