Description: KAMISHIBAI (Japanese picture story show) is a great tool for storytelling which can help motivate your students while stretching their imagination. Your students will easily understand the story by using their own senses and knowledge. After learning kamishibai, teachers can lead the students to act the situations out, create a mini drama, or even have them present the kamishibai on their own.

Description: Motivating students is a difficult task in any classroom. In the EFL classroom, the issue is compounded by a number of factors, such as the unique difficulties of working in a foreign language and the fact that many of the students have not made their own choice to study English. This presentation will focus on the practical as Brian Evans demonstrates simple techniques to help motivate students of all ages. This is a refresher course on how to present lively, engaging lessons, and is designed for teachers of speaking courses at eikaiwa schools, primary schools, secondary schools and low-level colleges who are looking for more easy, low-prep ideas to add to their repertoire.
About the speaker:
Brian Evans is a full-time teacher at Morioka College High School, but manages to also teach in such diverse settings as young children's classes at a conversation school, a university, and older adult private lessons.

Description: This presentation will help you develop an awareness of DYSLEXIA (and DYSPRAXIA). Dyslexia is a condition that affects people from all educational and social backgrounds. Discovered and acted upon early enough can significantly alter the way we teach or learn.
Besides just jumbling letters, any assumptions that dyslexia is a byword for stupidity and laziness will be dispelled as we examine the other fundamental common symptoms. Some dyslexia awareness activities will be included. This talk is applicable to educators, parents and students. In fact, everybody is most welcome.

Description: It seems common these days to say that Japan is lagging behind the rest of Asia with its English education for children, but what exactly is the rest of Asia doing with regards to English education for their kids? What is being taught at the bilingual schools? We'll look at both the bilingual movement across Asia, as well as look at the core of any bilingual curriculum - literacy, and how we teach this to children. We'll also look at some ideas for applying these concepts to older learners as well.

Description: 'Fun' must be the most overused and misused term in Children's ELT. Nothing is inherently 'fun,' just like nothing is inherently motivating. Fun can produce chaotic classes and is a poor substitute for actual learning and student success.
When is fun useful and when does it become destructive to learning? What are other, more permanent, pedagogically sound motivational strategies?
Please come to this fascinating presentation for the answers!!!!!
