LLL SIG Special Issue of The Language Teacher
Call for Submissions
The LLL SIGfs application to publish a special Lifelong Learning issue of The Language Teacher, JALTfs monthly journal, was accepted by the JALT Publications Board in November 2008. In order to allow adequate time for contributors to research and compose their submissions and for the editorial staff to review and edit manuscripts, a target publication date of September 1, 2010, has been set. The LLL SIG special issue editorial team consisting of Julia Harper, Robert Baines, Eric Skier, Kim Bradford-Watts, and Emi Itoi will soon begin their collaboration with TLT co-editors, Theron Muller and Jerry Talandis, to establish a timeline for production.
This is a rare opportunity for potential contributors to publish in a vetted journal on a topic that is enjoying increased recognition. Below are details about the types of submissions sought, submission dates, and contacts. The LLL SIG encourages manuscripts from both members and non-members.
The Language Teacher is seeking papers (1,500-2,000 words) for a special issue focusing on lifelong language learning. Papers should be research or classroom based and related to language education for adult learners (post-graduation) in various contexts. Articles may address topics such as local or national guidelines and facilities for lifelong language learning; reasons that adults study languages; business-related language learning; language classes for the elderly; materials and methodology for adult learners; the challenges faced by lifelong learners and their teachers; the future of lifelong language learning; and other related topics. In addition, shorter papers for My Share, book reviews, and teacher or learner profiles are welcome. If you are interested in submitting a paper for this special issue, please contact Julia Harper at harper.julia.k@gmail.com. The deadline for manuscript submissions is September 31, 2009 and publication expected September, 2010.
