Message from the Coordinator
JALT LLL SIG 2010 Annual General Meeting and Elections
Hello everyone,
The LLL SIG's Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the 36th Annual International Conference on Language Teaching and Learning & Educational Materials Expo to be held November 19-22, 2010, at the Aichi Industry and Labor Center, Nagoya. Conference details and presentation schedules can be found at http://jalt.org/conference. The AGM following the LLL Forum will offer an opportunity to meet other LLL SIG members and to take part in elections for LLL SIG officer positions, including the position of coordinator.
It saddens to me to be stepping down as coordinator after four years. During my tenure, I pictured myself as a captain steering this little "ship" of ours. The duties have ranged from writing a greeting for this Newsletter to representing our interests at JALT executive board meetings. I have had the pleasure of working with chapters and other SIGs to develop mini-conferences; sponsor guest speakers at the JALT conference and other events; and collaborate with other SIGs to plan for the annual PANSIG conference. It has been not only a challenging and adventure-filled time for me but also a great learning experience.
I encourage everyone to consider taking advantage of this opportunity to become a SIG coordinator. I will be available as an active member-at-large of the LLL SIG to help mentor my successor for a smooth transition. In addition, you will be working with our team of dedicated officers. Please contact me at skier@toyaku.ac.jp if you have any questions or would like to learn more about becoming the LLL SIG coordinator.
If, however, this is not the right time for you to play a more active role in the LLL SIG, I would still urge you to attend the LLL Forum and stay for the AGM afterwards to make sure your voice is heard (for more information check the LLL SIG at JALT 2010 page in this newsletter). The future of the LLL SIG is in your hands. Please be sure to vote!
