Hello, and welcome to another monthly edition of JALT Talk, the announcements newsletter of the Japan Association for Language Teaching. Our big story is that registration is closing soon for the JALT2021 conference! The whole JALT2021 team has been working very hard to put all of the pieces together for this year's online conference (November 12-15th). You're going to have a great time!
In this issue:
JALT2021 room volunteers needed
If you have Zoom experience and want to help with room hosting for JALT2021, reply to this form: https://forms.gle/jXdk8NhCp74XxzXG9
We have a great group of student volunteers from various universities around Japan that some on the conference team are connected with. You would be joining them to help fill out the schedule. The room host schedule is a block schedule so we are assigning time blocks (see the form for details). Samantha Kawakami is the Room Host and Discord Server Coordinator, and will be your primary contact. We're Looking for people to help out on Friday and Monday, in particular.

Join us Sunday, October 31st, from 8 PM (20:00) for JALT's 10th ZPD session! October’s ZPD will highlight the activities of two of our committees, one of our SIGs, and two other teacher organizations that are domestic affiliates of JALT (JACET, the Japan Association of College English Teachers, and JASAL, the Japan Association for Self-Access Learning). We will start with short introductions by:
* JALT’s DAC (Domestic Affairs Committee) Chair Mathew Porter
* JALT’s IAC (International Affairs Committee) Chair George MacLean
* JALT’s GILE (Global Issues in Language Education) SIG Coordinator Jennie Roloff Rothman
* JASAL President Clair Taylor
* JACET Academic Exchange Committee Chair Ian Willey
Then, we'll break up into smaller groups to discuss those topics and, as usual, we will also have an orientation for new officers and new members, tips and best practices in teaching, getting published, Eikawa & ALT Issues, Online teaching, Hybrid teaching, and more.
