Appendix 2:

Revised version of the language test

Your new computer doesn't work correctly. Write a letter of about 100 words to the company you bought it from. Use your own name and address, and today's date, on the letter. Explain your situation, and the problem with the computer. Provide examples of work you were doing and what happened when the problem occurred. Discuss your feelings, and explain why you think the company should help you.

Problem: Cannot save files to floppy drive - work is lost
